Cellular plastic products and cellular plastic packaging from different materials

We manufacture cellular plastic products and cellular plastic packaging from several materials, such as EPP and EPS cellular plastics. The material is always selected according to the requirements of the application to ensure that the final product meets the necessary demands for impact resistance, thermal insulation, light weight, and moisture resistance.

We manufacture cellular plastic products in Finland and deliver them reliably to a wide range of industries. Cellular plastic structures are used, for example, in medical technology, HVAC, thermal logistics, food packaging, as well as in the manufacture of commercial vehicle and defence equipment products. Certified production and reliable delivery performance ensure consistent quality even in demanding industrial applications.

Recycled EPP, biodegradable cellular plastic, and responsible material choices

We also offer environmentally friendly material options for cellular plastic products. In many products we use recycled EPP material, and depending on the application, we can also use 100% recycled cellular plastic without compromising the technical or visual properties of the product.

We are among the first in Finland to introduce a biodegradable cellular plastic material based on corn starch. Biodegradable cellular plastic is particularly suitable for applications where the product cannot be reused and where the use of fossil-based plastic materials should be reduced.

In addition, we use Artekno Ocean raw material, where part of the material is made from ropes and nets collected from the sea. In this case the material contains approximately 15% recycled plastic, helping to reduce marine plastic waste and supporting the circular economy.

The cellular plastic material is always selected together with the customer according to the application, ensuring that the final product meets technical, logistical, and environmental requirements.

EPP

EPP, or expanded polypropylene, is a durable and lightweight cellular plastic material with excellent recovery properties and very high impact resistance. The material retains its shape even in heavy use and is well suited for products that require long service life and good mechanical strength.

Easy-to-clean and washable EPP material is especially suitable for demanding food packaging, thermal logistics, as well as medical technology and industrial applications. In addition, EPP has excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties, which makes it widely used in transport, protection, and insulation solutions.

EPS

EPS, or expanded polystyrene, also known as Styrox, is a lightweight and durable cellular plastic material widely used in construction, transport packaging, and industrial protection solutions. The material provides excellent thermal insulation as well as good impact absorption, making it well suited for product protection, insulation, and transportation.

EPS plastic is a dimensionally accurate and cost-efficient material that enables the production of various packaging, insulation, and protective solutions also in large production volumes. Due to its low weight, EPS is particularly suitable for applications where good protection, light weight, and high insulation performance are required..

Biodegradable material

Corn starch-based biodegradable cellular plastic is an environmentally friendly alternative to EPS and EPP materials in suitable applications. The material provides good thermal insulation and sufficient impact resistance for packaging and protective applications.

The biodegradable material can be industrially composted, making it suitable for applications where reuse is not possible and where reducing the environmental impact of the product is important.

Artekno Ocean – for cleaner oceans

We are the first in the Nordic countries to develop a cellular plastic material that contains 15% plastic raw material made from plastic waste collected from the sea. This means that the product generates 7% less CO2 emissions compared to the production of virgin material. Artekno Ocean has the same properties as EPP material. In addition to Artekno Ocean raw material, Artekno now also offers EPP containing 30% and 100% recycled material.
