Recyclable and biodegradable EPP materials

We are the first in Finland to introduce biodegradable cellular plastic material. It is a corn starch-based material that can partially replace EPS and EPP plastics in suitable applications. Biodegradable material provides an ecological solution in situations where products cannot be reasonably reused.

Ropes and nets collected from the sea can be used as raw material for Artekno Ocean, which means that 15% of the material is recycled. In addition to ecological alternatives, EPP containing 30% and 100% recycled material is also available.

 

Cellular plastic products made from different materials

We manufacture cellular plastic products and packaging from both virgin and recycled raw materials. The materials are selected in collaboration with the customer according to the desired properties.

 

EPP

EPP, or expanded polypropylene plastic, is a durable and lightweight material with excellent resilience and shock absorption properties. Easy to clean and machine washable, this material is particularly suitable for demanding food packaging applications and for use in healthcare technology and various industrial sectors. It also has excellent sound and heat insulation properties.

 

EPS

EPS plastic (expanded polystyrene), more commonly known as Styrofoam, offers a durable solution, particularly for the construction and transportation industries. EPS plastic has good thermal insulation properties and excellent shock absorption, and is also a very lightweight material.

 

Biodegradable material

Corn starch-based biodegradable material offers an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic materials. The end product has good heat insulation properties and can be composted industrially.

 

Artekno Ocean – for cleaner oceans

We are the first in the Nordic countries to develop a cellular plastic material that contains 15% plastic raw material made from plastic waste collected from the sea. This means that the product generates 7% less CO2 emissions compared to the production of virgin material. Artekno Ocean has the same properties as EPP material. In addition to Artekno Ocean raw material, Artekno now also offers EPP containing 30% and 100% recycled material.
