Menumat Oy is a Finnish food service company operating in most of Finland. Menumat’s services include high-quality frozen meal solutions designed to support people’s everyday lives and well-being. Meals can be ordered according to personal preferences and enjoyed at a time that suits best. The high-quality frozen meals contain no unnecessary preservatives and minimize waste. The meal solutions are delivered directly to your home or care facility and can be stored in your own refrigerator or in rental service equipment.

Packaging redesign adds extra features to the product

The collaboration between Menumat and Arteknon began with the need to replace the aluminum packaging that had been used previously. The packaging solution at the time had limited uses, such as heating. The properties of the aluminum tray could be directly replaced with a more responsible cardboard tray, while adding additional features to the packaging and product. For example, the cardboard tray can be heated in both the microwave and the oven. In addition, customer-specific printing allowed the packaging to be integrated into the Menumat product brand.

The product’s structure and appearance were designed in collaboration with the customer to ensure that it meets Menumat’s device requirements and is easy to use and pleasant for the user. In the packaging design, particular attention was paid to the diner:

• The package is safe to handle after heating.
• The package is easy to open.
• The presentation of the meal must be carefully arranged in the packaging.
• The packaging is shaped like a plate.
• The packaging is easy to recycle, as cardboard can be recycled.

The whole concept from Arteknola

Artekno offered and implemented a complete package for Menumatti, from design to product and from product to service. Manufacturing and product storage take place in Kangasala. Artekno ensures that packaging is always available as needed.
