EPP is a cellular polypropylene plastic that, thanks to its durability and good resilience, is widely used in demanding packaging applications, such as blood and plasma transport, the automotive industry (e.g., car bumpers), and air conditioning systems (insulation, soundproofing, and air control components).
Typical characteristics of EPP in the end product:
- Density adjustable between 30 and 80 kg/m³
- Properties change depending on density
- Functional properties over a wide temperature range of -40 to +120 °C
- Good thermal insulation properties
- Excellent durability and shock absorption
- Good resilience after dynamic or static loading
- Low water absorption
- Good resistance to chemical solvents
- Easy to clean, machine washable
- Material can be reused
Aluminum is a typical mold material.
