Microcellular, solid, and flexible polyurethane RIM or reinforced RRIM are materials with unmatched strength properties, heat resistance, and impact resistance. RIM and RRIM are excellent choices for health technology devices and transportation equipment, among other applications. They are mechanically strong, suitable for thin-walled parts, and their wall thickness can also be varied.
Typical characteristics of the end product:
- Good dimensional accuracy of products
- Good post-processing properties (like wood)
- Good wear resistance
- Electrically insulating, corrosion resistant
- Can be painted and silk-screened
- EMI shielded
- Recommended wall thicknesses 4-10 mm
- Fire rated UL-94 VO (with 4 mm wall thickness)
Typical mold materials are aluminum and epoxy resin.
